My name is Rita Gullion and I guess you could say horses have been a part of my life since before I was born. My parents met at Hidden Valley Ranch (which is now Double H Hole in the Woods) in the Adirondack Mountains of New York in 1965 on a horseback ride. My husband's parents met on a working ranch in Wyoming. In 1975 my parents started taking my brother and me to Ridin'-Hy Ranch in Warrensburg, NY where I learned how to ride and eventually met my husband, Stew, while he was working there in 1996. In 2011 we purchased our farm and my dream of finally owning my own horses became a reality. The TVK in TVK Farm stands for our three children, Tanya, Vincent and Kateri.
I learned how to ride western beginning in 1975. At first I rode ponies and then graduated to horses and trail rides in 1979. In college I joined the equestrian team and learned how to ride English. I competed all through college and one year as an alumna, never taking worse than 4th place in every show. I also competed in several guest rodeos over the years at Ridin'-Hy winning many ribbons.
My experience includes over 40 years of riding. I have done volunteer work for Long Island Riding for the Handicapped Association. I have helped out with lessons at Ridin'-Hy Ranch. I've taught my brother, who has Down Syndrome, and all three of my children how to ride.
I am a Notary Public and also have many years experience in proofreading, magazine layout, website design and Facebook page setup and can help you with any of these.
